Lemon Chiffon - Herbaceous Peony
(Reath, 2000)
Double, Yellow, Early-Midseason, 32” tall.
This variety is a truly beautiful hybrid with outstanding plant characteristics. This variety is one of my grandfather’s greatest hybridizing successes. A wonderful light-yellow herbaceous peony! Flowers are of an airy ball-type, double form. The side buds give the plant a long season of bloom. The plant holds the flowers absolutely upright on strong stems. The foliage is medium green. My father put it best: “Here on the farm, I can see a hillside bed of peonies from my home window. It is over a quarter mile distant and yet, when the Lemon Chiffon is in bloom, it glows.” Lemon Chiffon won the American Peony Society Grand Champion Award (Best bloom of the National Show) in June, 2000.
